A Couple of Stops on Our Way to the California Coast

Hi there! We’re currently doing a series on our trip from Colorado to California this last summer. If you’d like to read from the beginning, you can start here.

After we left the Cold Springs Pony Express Station, we continued into California, heading through Carson City. We passed the absolutely gorgeous Lake Tahoe area and then Placerville. We stayed in the Thousand Trail’s Ponderosa campground for several days before heading to Thousand Trail’s Russian River campground. Since we were traveling into an area with so many Thousand Trails, we decided to give their zone pass a try. We had mixed feelings about the campgrounds–some we liked more than others–but overall I do think it saved us quite a bit of money.
